Hello friends! My name is Bill and I’m from Chengdu, China. I’m 18 and I have been a big fan of Zecchino d’Oro and il Piccolo Coro “Mariele Ventre” dell’Antoniano di Bologna since I was 13.
My first memory of Zecchino d’Oro was a video of a part of the 51st Zecchino d’Oro, it was the song “Giochi di Parole”. I believe it was my great fortune to watch this video. And this song is still one of my favorites. The melody is lively and delightful and the lyrics are full of joy and innocence. I loved this song so much and began to search for more information about it. Therefore, I got to know the great Italian Children’s festival “Zecchino d’Oro” and the great little choir of Antoniano.
More songs I listened, more amazing I thought Zecchino d’Oro was. It was surprising to me that there were so many awesome Children’s songs in Italy! Unbelievable! Soon I became a big fan. And I sent hundreds of Zecchino d’Oro songs to my mobile phone and iPad so that I can listen to them anywhere at any time. Then, I joint a group of Chinese fans who have the same passion for Zecchino d’Oro and il Piccolo Coro in which I made many friends. Watching the Zecchino d’Oro live TV broadcast is the thing we expect most every year.
In late 2015 I heard that the little choir was going to hold concerts in Shanghai during the new year. I was so excited. However, what a pity, I couldn’t go to Shanghai because I was really busy preparing for the National College Entrance Examination. An interesting thing was that I listened to “Giochi di parole” before Chinese exam, “Do i numeri” before math exam and “Messer Galileo” before physics exam. I believed they would bring me good luck, and they did!
Couples of months ago I heard that the little choir was coming to China again during the 2017 new year and there would be 6 concerts in Shanghai and another 2 in Beijing. I was happy to death! Without much hesitation, I booked tickets to 3 concerts in Shanghai and just couldn’t wait for it!
Finally, at the last day of 2016, I saw the fantastic little choir and the respectable teacher Sabrina directly with my eyes, not on the screen anymore, they were so close to me! And on the new year’s day of 2017, I went to another two concerts. In other words, I spent the new year’s day together with il Piccolo Coro. How incredible! More luckily, I was sitting in the middle of the first row! The wonderful atmosphere, the beautiful voices! I even doubted if I was dreaming! When those lovely children from Italy were singing that famous song “The Same Song” in Chinese, I was so touched and had tears in my eyes. Words can simply not express my emotion at that time. I deeply felt that, just as they sung, we are the world.
At the end of the concert, I gave every child of il Piccolo Coro a high five and wished them “Buon Anno!”. I will never forget the happiness of clapping their little hands. What’s more, after the concert I took group selfies together with them, they gathered around me and showed the sweetest smiles in the world to the lens as soon as I turned on my camera. Tutti quanti abbiamo un angelo, they are my angels!
What do I get from Zecchino d’Oro and il Piccolo Coro? I get faith, inspiration, optimism, naivete, friendship, endless joy and the ability to discover beautiful things in everyday life. They have taken a huge part of my life and those children’s songs are precious spiritual treasures to me. Heartfelt thanks to those who devote to Zecchino d’Oro and il Piccolo Coro. Grazie mille! I genuinely believe that, loving Zecchino d’Oro and il Piccolo Coro is the luckiest thing all my life.
